Services for the Month of September

September 7
Standing Before Us
This Sunday we combine our annual end of the summer “Water Ceremony” with a celebration of the role and importance of ancestors; our family ancestors, our grandparents, and those wise and brave women and men who are our church community ancestors. Please bring a small amount of water (either real or virtual) as a symbol of some personally special summertime place or event.

September 14
When in Doubt Pray, When in Prayer Doubt
Maybe? Sometimes? What kind of prayer does a humanist pray?
Please plan to stay for our Second Sunday Potluck (we invite you to bring food to share) and enjoy learning about all the ways you might get involved at the “Opportunities Faire!”

September 21
Keep it Simple
A couple of years ago some far-sighted people in this congregation began meeting, as a “Simplicity Group.” For the past decade or so many have advocated that our complex consumer-focused is detrimental to spirit and creativity. What might we all learn from those who see “simplicity” as a part of their spiritual focus and how might we enjoy the peace and clarity that choosing simplicity can create?

September 28
Getting Right before Going On
The Jewish High Holy Days are a time set aside for examining one’s life and relationships with others, with self and with the holy. Surely all of us sometimes wish we too could find a way to let go of our regrets and begin again with a clean slate.

October 5
Join us for a UUCIF “Vision Quest
Who are we ? How are we together? Let us begin a congregational “quest” to see if our old “vision” still fits who we are now.

Spirit Rising by Ruth Barnes.
A mobius strip represents the renewing and rekindling of energy. The chalice is nestled within the mobius' fabric folds and the flame rises from within each individual. The double circles of Unitarianism and Universalism halo the flame of rising spirit from within every indiviual. Used by permission of the artist. Photography by Arthur Kull. From the Idaho Falls Unitarian Universalist Art Collection.
